Bright Winter

The Colour Seasons are a starting point when we don't know which colours suit us best. We're all unique. The aim is to experiment and find what we like. If you don't like the palette recommended to you, trust yourself and wear the colours in which you feel most comfortable. These are just suggestions that you should adapt to your own tastes.

If this is a new subject for you, I suggest you refer to the Colour Glossary before starting.

The primary colour aspect of the overall appearance is bright, and the secondary aspect is cool.

Skin

The skin has a neutral or cool undertone. The skin tones range from fair to deep.

Eyes

The eyes are clear and very bright. They can be light or dark. They have cool undertones. They can be blue, green, hazel, brown or black. There is a high contrast between the white of the eye and the iris.

Hair

The hair has cool tones with ashy or bluish highlights. It can be brown, brown-black or black.

Contrast

There are two types of contrast : either all the features are dark, or the hair and eyes are dark and contrast with light skin. In both cases, the contrast is high. The features do not blend.

Comparison

Bright Winter and Bright Spring are sometimes difficult to tell apart, as both have very bright features and a very high contrast. What sets them apart is the cool (bluish) tones of Bright Winter, compared to the warm (yellowish) tones of Bright Spring. Bright Spring's colouring is slightly less intense, giving it a softer appearance than Bright Winter's, which is clearer.

Colour Palette

The colours in your palette tend towards the cool end, which means they contain more shades of blue than yellow. Even your yellows have a bluish base.

Most colours are in the middle of the value scale, neither very light nor very dark.

The colours are highly saturated and intensely luminous.

This palette doesn't represent all the colours that would suit you, there are many more. These are the main ones.

Neutrals

The neutrals in your palette are bluish. Your light neutrals are blues, pinks and greys. Your dark neutrals are blues, purples and anthracites.

Black and white are part of your palette, because they reproduce the contrast of your features.

Sister Palettes

Bright Winter lies between True Winter and Bright Spring. Compared with True Winter, the colours are brighter, lighter and slightly warmer. Compared to Bright Spring, the colours are just as bright, but cooler and slightly darker.

Depending on where you fall on the Bright Spring spectrum, you can borrow certain colours from your 'sister palettes'. If you're leaning more towards True Winter, opt for the palette's brightest colours. If you're leaning towards Bright Spring, choose the palette’s coolest colours.

Colour Combinations

You can combine all the colours in your palette with each other, but some combinations work better than others. The best ones are those that have the same level of contrast naturally present in your appearance. Bright Winter is high in contrast, so your colour combinations should be too.

The easiest way to create contrast is to combine a dark colour with a lighter one. You can also create a hue contrast with two opposite colours on the colour wheel, such as pink and green. Another way is to combine a neutral colour with a bright one. As a general rule, always include a bright colour in your outfit.

Try to avoid only neutral combinations or low-contrast outfits, as these will detract from your naturally vibrant appearance.

Not Ideal Colours

The muted and warm colours are not ideal, since Bright Winter is bright and cool.

Desaturated colours, such as greyish purples and dusty greens, will tend to reduce your natural luminosity. Warm colours, such as orangey red and golden yellows, will clash with your cool colouring.

Patterns

Your best patterns are those containing bright and cool colours. Choose ones with very high-contrast elements.

Metals

Your best metals are silver and white gold. Gold is also suitable, as long as it’s light. Prefer luminous finishes to matte or antique ones.

Complexion

The complexion products should have neutral or pink undertones. Prefer luminous finishes.

Bronzers tend not to be ideal, as they look less natural on a cool complexion.

Highlighters

Highlighters are perfect because they bring out the natural luminosity of your features. Prefer pink or silver tones.

Blushs

The best blush colours are bright pinks, fuchsias and purples. The least flattering colours are warm and muted. Prefer luminous finishes.

Lipsticks

The best lipstick colours are bright pinks, fuchsia, bluish reds and purples. While these colours may seem bold, they'll look natural on you because they replicate the intensity of your appearance. If this is a little too intense, choose a sheer finish. The least flattering colours are very muted and warm. Prefer luminous finishes.

Eyeshadows

Your neutral eyeshadow colours are : white, taupes, greys and black. Your colour accents are : pinks, purples, blues and greens. The least flattering colours are muted and warm. Prefer luminous or metallic finishes.

Mascaras & Eyeliners

The best mascara colours are black and dark blues. Your neutral eyeliner colours are black and greys. Your colour accents are greens, purples and blues.

Light Makeup

A light makeup should reproduce the natural characteristics of your appearance. The complexion should be luminous and fresh, with a little blush and highlighter. The eye makeup can be light or defined. Prefer brightly coloured lips. If it's a little too intense, choose a transparent finish.

Defined Makeup

A defined makeup should enhance the natural features of your appearance. You can simply intensify your lips and/or eyes. The complexion should remain luminous and fresh.
