True Autumn
The Colour Seasons are a starting point when we don't know which colours suit us best. We're all unique. The aim is to experiment and find what we like. If you don't like the palette recommended to you, trust yourself and wear the colours in which you feel most comfortable. These are just suggestions that you should adapt to your own tastes.
If this is a new subject for you, I suggest you refer to the Colour Glossary before starting.
The primary colour aspect of the overall appearance is warm, and the secondary aspect is soft.
Skin
The skin has a warm undertone. It may have freckles. The skin tones range from fair to dark.
Eyes
The eyes are medium-light. They have warm undertones. They can be green, hazel or brown.
Hair
The hair has warm tones with golden or reddish highlights. It can be blond, copper, auburn, light or medium brown.
Contrast
The contrast between the skin, hair and eyes is medium. The features don't blend together, but there are no very dark or very light areas either.
Comparison
True Autumn and True Spring are sometimes difficult to tell apart, as both have warm tones and a medium contrast. What sets them apart is their intensity. True Spring is bright, while True Autumn is muted.
Colour Palette
The colours in your palette tend towards the warm end, meaning they contain more shades of yellow than blue. Even your blues have a touch of yellow, like turquoise.
Most of your colours fall in the middle of the value scale, with a slight lean towards the darker end.
The colours may appear highly saturated, as our eyes are more reactive to warm colours, but they tend to have medium to low saturation.
This palette doesn't represent all the colours that would suit you, there are many more. These are the main ones.
Neutrals
The neutrals in your palette are yellowish and reddish. Your light neutrals are creams and caramels. Your dark neutrals are browns, reds and blues.
Black and white are not part of your palette, as they are too harsh for your colouring. If you wear them frequently, mix them with the warm, rich colors in your palette.
Sister Palettes
True Autumn lies between Soft Autumn and Dark Autumn. Compared with Soft Autumn, the colours are warmer, brighter and slightly darker. Compared to Dark Autumn, colours are warmer, softer and slightly lighter.
Depending on where you fall on the True Autumn spectrum, you may borrow some colours from your "sister palettes". If you're leaning towards Soft Autumn, opt for the palette's darkest, brightest colors. If you're leaning towards Dark Autumn, choose the palette’s lightest colours.
Colour Combinations
You can combine all the colours in your palette with each other, but some combinations work better than others. The best ones are those that have the same level of contrast naturally present in your appearance. True Autumn has a medium contrast, so your colour combinations should be too.
The easiest way to create contrast is to combine a medium colour with a lighter colour. You can also combine neighbouring shades on the colour wheel, such as yellow and orange. Another way is to combine a neutral colour with an accent colour, such as dark brown with medium green.
Try to avoid combining high-contrast colours, especially those that are opposite each other on the colour wheel, such as yellow and violet. Also, avoid neutral monochrome combinations, as these will detract from your naturally rich appearance.
Not Ideal Colours
The cool, very muted and very bright colours are not ideal, since True Autumn is warm and rich.
Cool, desaturated colours, such as pastel pinks or icy blues, will clash with your warm, rich colouring. Saturated colours, such as bright purples and electric blues, will be too harsh against your more muted appearance.
Patterns
Your best patterns are those containing warm and rich colours. Choose ones with medium-contrast elements.
Metals
Your best metals are gold, bronze and copper. Prefer matte or antique finishes to luminous ones.
Complexion
The complexion products should have peachy or golden undertones. Prefer matte or satin finishes.
Highlighters tend not to be ideal, as they look less natural on a more muted complexion.
Bronzers
Bronzers are ideal because they enhance your golden complexion. It should have peachy, golden or reddish tones. Prefer matte or satin finishes.
Blushs
The best blush colours are peaches, caramels and brownish reds. The least flattering colours are very bright and cool. Prefer matte or satin finishes.
Lipsticks
The best lipstick colours are peaches, apricots, corals, orangey and brownish reds. The least flattering colours are very bright and cool. Prefer matte or satin finishes.
Eyeshadows
Your neutral eyeshadow colours are : beiges, terracottas and browns. Your colour accents are : reds, purples, oranges, golds and greens. The least flattering colours are very bright and cool. Prefer satin or matte finishes.
Mascaras & Eyeliners
The best mascara colours are browns and warm greys. Your neutral eyeliner colours are browns and olive greens. Your colour accents are terracottas, purples, blues and greens.
Light Makeup
A light makeup should reproduce the natural characteristics of your appearance. The complexion should be warm and soft, with a little blush/bronzer. Prefer light eye makeup and a warm lip colour.
Defined Makeup
A defined makeup should enhance the natural features of your appearance. You can simply intensify your lips and/or eyes. The complexion should remain warm and soft.
