Bright Spring

The Colour Seasons are a starting point when we don't know which colours suit us best. We're all unique. The aim is to experiment and find what we like. If you don't like the palette recommended to you, trust yourself and wear the colours in which you feel most comfortable. These are just suggestions that you should adapt to your own tastes.

If this is a new subject for you, I suggest you refer to the Colour Glossary before starting.

The primary colour aspect of the overall appearance is bright, and the secondary aspect is warm.

Skin

The skin has a neutral or warm undertone. It may have freckles. The skin tones range from fair to tan.

Eyes

The eyes are clear and very bright. They have warm undertones. They can be blue, green, hazel or medium brown. There is a high contrast between the white of the eye and the iris.

Hair

The hair has warm tones with golden or reddish highlights. It can be blond, copper, auburn or medium brown. Many Bright Springs had blond hair as children, but it turned brown as they grew older.

Contrast

The contrast between skin, hair and eyes is very high. There is no blending of features.

Comparison

Bright Spring and Bright Winter are sometimes difficult to tell apart, as both have very bright features and a high contrast. What sets them apart is the warm (yellowish) tones of Bright Spring, compared to the cool (bluish) tones of Bright Winter. Bright Spring's colouring is slightly less intense, giving it a softer appearance than Bright Winter's, which is clearer.

Colour Palette

The colours in your palette tend towards the warm end, meaning they contain more shades of yellow than blue. Even your blues have a touch of yellow, like turquoise.

Most colours fall in the middle of the value scale, with a lean towards the lighter end. There are darker shades, but these are support colours for the lighter hues.

The colours are highly saturated and intensely luminous.

This palette doesn't represent all the colours that would suit you, there are many more. These are the main ones.

Neutrals

The neutrals colours in your palette are slightly yellowish. Your light neutrals are off-whites, taupes and beiges. Your dark neutrals are anthracites, browns and blues.

Black and white don't belong on your palette, as they're too harsh for your colouring. If you wear them frequently, mix them with the warm, saturated colours in your palette.

Sister Palettes

Bright Spring lies between Bright Winter and True Spring. Compared with Bright Winter, the colours are just as bright, but warmer and slightly lighter. Compared to True Spring, colours are brighter, slightly darker and less warm.

Depending on where you fall on the Bright Spring spectrum, you can borrow certain colours from your "sister palettes". If you're leaning towards Bright Winter, opt for the palette's warmest colours. If you're leaning towards True Spring, choose the palette's brightest colours.

Colour Combinations

You can combine all the colours in your palette with each other, but some combinations work better than others. The best ones are those that have the same level of contrast naturally present in your appearance.

Bright Spring is high-contrast, so your colour combinations should be too.
The simplest way to create contrast is to combine a dark colour with a light one. You can also create a hue contrast with two opposite colours on the colour wheel, such as pink and green. Another way is to combine a neutral colour with a bright one. In general, always include a bright colour in your outfit.

Try to avoid all-neutral combinations or low-contrast outfits, as these will tend to detract from your naturally vibrant appearance.

Not Ideal Colours

The muted and cool colours are not ideal, since Bright Spring is bright and warm.

Desaturated colours, such as mauves and dusty blues, will tend to reduce your natural luminosity. Cool colours, such as pale pinks and icy greys, will clash with your warm colouring.

Patterns

Your best patterns are those containing bright and warm colours. Choose ones with very high-contrast elements.

Metals

Your best metals are gold and rose gold. If your skin has neutral undertones, white gold and silver may be suitable. Prefer luminous finishes to matte or antique ones.

Complexion

The complexion products should have neutral, peach or golden undertones. Prefer luminous finishes.

Bronzers

Depending on your skin tone, bronzers can enhance your complexion. It should have peachy tones. Prefer luminous finishes.

Highlighters

Highlighters are perfect because they bring out the natural luminosity of your features. Prefer peachy tones.

Blushs

The best blush colours are bright peaches, hot pinks and corals. The least flattering colours are muted and cool. Prefer luminous finishes.

Lipsticks

The best lipstick colours are bright peaches, hot pinks, apricots, corals and orangey reds. While these colours may seem bold, they'll look natural on you because they replicate the intensity of your appearance. If this is a little too intense, choose a sheer finish. The least flattering colours are muted and cool. Prefer luminous finishes.

Eyeshadows

Your neutral eyeshadow colours are : creams, taupes, peaches and browns. Your colour accents are : pinks, purples, blues and greens. The least flattering colours are muted and cool. Prefer luminous or metallic finishes.

Mascaras & Eyeliners

The best mascara colours are warm greys and brown-blacks. Your neutral eyeliner colours are greys and browns. Your colour accents are blues, purples and greens.

Light Makeup

A light makeup should reproduce the natural characteristics of your appearance. The complexion should be luminous and warm, with a little blush/bronzer and highlighter. Prefer defined eye makeup and brightly coloured lips. If it's a little too intense, choose a transparent finish.

Defined Makeup

A defined makeup should enhance the natural features of your appearance. You can simply intensify your lips and/or eyes. The complexion should remain luminous and warm.
