True Spring

The Colour Seasons are a starting point when we don't know which colours suit us best. We're all unique. The aim is to experiment and find what we like. If you don't like the palette recommended to you, trust yourself and wear the colours in which you feel most comfortable. These are just suggestions that you should adapt to your own tastes.

If this is a new subject for you, I suggest you refer to the Colour Glossary before starting.

The primary colour aspect of the overall appearance is warm, and the secondary aspect is bright.

Skin

The skin has a warm undertone. It may have freckles. The skin tones range from fair to tan.

Eyes

The eyes are medium-light and clear. They have warm undertones. They can be blue, green, hazel or medium brown.

Hair

The hair has warm tones with golden or reddish highlights. It can be blond, copper, light or medium brown. Many True Springs had blond hair as children, but it turned brown as they grew older

Contrast

The contrast between the skin, hair and eyes is medium. The features don't blend together, but there are no very dark or very light areas either.

Comparison

True Spring and True Autumn are sometimes difficult to tell apart, as both have warm tones and a medium contrast. What sets them apart is their intensity. True Spring is bright, while True Autumn is muted.

Colour Palette

The colours in your palette tend towards the warm end, meaning they contain more shades of yellow than blue. Even your blues have a touch of yellow, like turquoise.

Most colours fall in the middle of the value scale, with a lean towards the lighter end. There are darker shades, but these are support colours for the lighter hues.

The colours are very rich, luminous and vibrant.

This palette doesn't represent all the colours that would suit you, there are many more. These are the main ones.

Neutrals

The neutral colours in your palette are yellowish. Your light neutrals are beiges, oranges and yellows. Your dark neutrals are browns and blues.

Black and white are not part of your palette, as they are too harsh for your colouring. If you wear them frequently, mix them with the warm, bright colours in your palette.

Sister Palettes

True Spring lies between Bright Spring and Light Spring. Compared with Bright Spring, the colours are just as bright, but warmer and slightly lighter. Compared to Light Spring, colours are warmer, brighter and slightly darker.

Depending on where you fall in the True Spring spectrum, you may borrow some colours from your "sister palettes". If you're leaning towards Bright Spring, opt for the palette's softer colours. If you're leaning towards Light Spring, choose the palette's darkest colours.

Colour Combinations

You can combine all the colours in your palette with each other, but some combinations work better than others. The best ones are those that have the same level of contrast naturally present in your appearance.

True Spring has a medium contrast, so your colour combinations should be too.
The easiest way to create contrast is to combine a dark colour with a light one. You can also create a hue contrast, with two opposite colours on the colour wheel, such as blue and yellow. Another way is to combine a neutral colour with a bright one. As a general rule, always include a bright colour in your outfit.

Try to avoid all-neutral combinations or low-contrast outfits, as these will tend to detract from your naturally vibrant appearance.

Not Ideal Colours

The muted and cool colours are not ideal, since True Spring is warm and bright.

Desaturated colours, such as mauves and dusty blues, will tend to reduce your natural luminosity. Cool colours, such as pale pinks and icy greys, will clash with your warm colouring.

Patterns

Your best patterns are those containing warm and bright colours. Choose ones with medium-contrast elements.

Metals

Your best metals are gold and rose gold. White gold is also suitable. Prefer luminous finishes to matte or antique ones.

Complexion

The complexion products should have peachy or golden undertones. Prefer satin finishes, neither too luminous nor too matte.

Bronzers

Bronzers are ideal because they enhance your golden complexion. It should have peachy or golden tones. Prefer satin finishes.

Highlighters

Highlighters are perfect because they bring out the natural luminosity of your features. Prefer peachy or golden tones.

Blushs

The best blush colours are warm peaches, brownish reds and corals. The least flattering colours are muted and cool. Prefer satin finishes.

Lipsticks

The best lipstick colours are peaches, hot pinks, apricots, corals and orangey reds. While these colours may seem bold, they'll look natural on you because they replicate the intensity of your appearance. If this is a little too intense, choose a sheer finish. The least flattering colours are muted and cool. Prefer luminous finishes.

Eyeshadows

Your neutral eyeshadow colours are : creams, peaches and browns. Your colour accents are : pinks, purples, blues and greens. The least flattering colours are muted and cool. Prefer satin finishes.

Mascaras & Eyeliners

The best mascara colours are warm browns and brown-blacks. Your neutral eyeliner colours are beiges and browns. Your colour accents are peaches, greens, purples and blues.

Light Makeup

A light makeup should reproduce the natural characteristics of your appearance. The complexion should be warm and luminous, with a little blush/bronzer and highlighter. Prefer light eye makeup and brightly coloured lips. If it's a little too intense, choose a transparent finish.

Defined Makeup

A defined makeup should enhance the natural features of your appearance. You can simply intensify your lips and/or eyes. The complexion should remain warm and luminous.
