Light Spring

The Colour Seasons are a starting point when we don't know which colours suit us best. We're all unique. The aim is to experiment and find what we like. If you don't like the palette recommended to you, trust yourself and wear the colours in which you feel most comfortable. These are just suggestions that you should adapt to your own tastes.

If this is a new subject for you, I suggest you refer to the Colour Glossary before starting.

The primary colour aspect of the overall appearance is light, and the secondary aspect is warm.

Skin

The skin has a neutral or warm undertone. It may have freckles. The skin tones range from fair to medium.

Eyes

The eyes are light and clear. They have warm undertones. They can be blue, green, hazel or brown.

Hair

The hair has warm tones with golden or reddish highlights. It can be blond, copper, light brown. Many Light Springs had blond hair as children, but it turned brown as they grew older. A medium brown is also common among non-white ethnicities.

Contrast

There is little contrast between the skin, hair and eyes. The features blend together. For non-white ethnicities, their features are lighter in relation to their origin.

Comparison

Light Spring and Light Summer are sometimes difficult to tell apart, as both have very light features and a low contrast. What sets them apart is the warm (golden) tones of Light Spring, compared with the cool (greyish) tones of Light Summer.

Colour Palette

The colours in your palette tend towards the warm end, meaning they contain more shades of yellow than blue. Even your blues have a touch of yellow, like turquoise.

The colours are low value, which means there are lots of light colours and very few dark colours. There are a few medium colours, but these are support colours for the lighter shades.

The colours are mostly saturated and luminous, and some are softer.

This palette doesn't represent all the colours that would suit you, there are many more. These are the main ones.

Neutrals

The neutrals in your palette are slightly yellowish and pinkish. Your light neutrals are beiges and pinks. Your dark neutrals are browns and taupes.

Black and white are not part of your palette, as they are too harsh for your colouring. If you wear them frequently, mix them with the soft, warm colours in your palette.

Sister Palettes

Light Spring lies between True Spring and Light Summer. Compared with True Spring, the colours are softer, lighter and less warm. Compared to Light Summer, the colours are warmer, brighter but just as clear.

Depending on where you are in the Light Spring spectrum, you can borrow certain colours from your "sister palettes". If you're leaning more towards True Spring, opt for the palette's lightest colours. If you're leaning towards Light Summer, choose the palette's warmest colours.

Colour Combinations

You can combine all the colours in your palette with each other, but some combinations work better than others. The best ones are those that have the same level of contrast naturally present in your appearance.

Light Spring has a low contrast, so your colour combinations should be too.
The easiest way is to combine a medium colour with a slightly lighter colour. You can also create a hue contrast, with two colours on opposite sides of the colour wheel, such as orange and blue, as long as they are of the same value. Another way is to combine a neutral colour with a bright one. As a general rule, always include a bright colour in your outfit.

Try to avoid all-neutral combinations as these will tend to detract from your naturally vibrant appearance.

Not Ideal Colours

The dark, cool and very saturated colours are not ideal, since Light Spring is light and warm.

Dark, cool colours, such as purples and deep blues, will be too harsh against your light, warm colouring. Highly saturated colours, such as bright oranges and rich browns, will clash with your muted appearance.

Patterns

Your best patterns are those that contain light and warm colours. Choose ones with low-contrast elements.

Metals

Your best metals are light gold and rose gold. Silver and white gold are also suitable, as long as they are light. Prefer luminous finishes to matte or antique ones.

Complexion

The complexion products should have neutral, peachy or golden undertones. Prefer luminous finishes.

Bronzers

Depending on your skin tone, bronzers can enhance your complexion. It should have peachy tones. Prefer luminous finishes.

Highlighters

Highlighters are perfect because they bring out the natural luminosity of your features. Prefer peachy tones.

Blushs

The best blush colours are light peaches, pinks and corals. The least flattering colours are muted and cool. Prefer luminous finishes.

Lipsticks

The best lipstick colours are light peachy pinks, abricots, corals, pinkish reds. The least flattering colours are dark, muted and cool. Prefer luminous finishes.

Eyeshadows

Your neutral eyeshadow colours are : creams, taupes, peaches and light browns. Your colour accents are : pastel shades of yellow, pink, blue and green. The least flattering colours are dark and cool. Prefer luminous finishes.

Mascaras & Eyeliners

The best mascara colours are browns and warm greys. Your neutral eyeliner colours are light browns and peaches. Your colour accents are pinks, yellows, greens and blues.

Light Makeup

A light makeup should reproduce the natural characteristics of your appearance. The complexion should be warm and luminous, with a little blush/bronzer and highlighter. Prefer light eye makeup and brightly coloured lips.

Defined Makeup

A defined makeup should enhance the natural features of your appearance. You can simply intensify your lips and/or eyes. The complexion should remain warm and luminous.
