Dramatic

Before getting into the details, it's worth noting that David Kibbe (the creator of the 13 Kibbe types) has repeatedly said that a clothing type doesn't belong to a specific type. Rather, it's how you integrate it into an outfit that makes it appropriate. The aim is not to tell you how you should dress, it's simply a guide, a starting point when you're feeling a little lost. From there, you can fine-tune your clothing style. It's also important to point out that Yang (sharp, angular, straight, long) is often described as "masculine" and Yin (rounded, soft, curved, short) as "feminine". This is totally incorrect and only serves to further skew our view of different morphologies. They're just two different femininities.

I've taken the liberty of modernising and softening some of the recommendations, so I suggest you refer to his book Metamorphosis, if you want more authentic information.

A slight deviation is always possible and shouldn't be a cause for concern as long as it doesn't upset the overall balance. If this is a new subject for you, I suggest you read the Glossary of Morphologies before starting.

The Dramatic woman is the most Yang type (100% Dramatic).

The facial features are pointed or prominent, such as the nose, jaw and cheekbones. The eyes are often small, almond-shaped and generally close-set. The lips are narrow, thin or straight. The skin on the cheeks tend to be taut.

The Dramatic woman is generally average height (from 5.5ft / 1m67) to tall. The vertical line is long (distance from shoulder line to knees). Dramatic women often appear taller than they are.

The bone structure is narrow and elongated. Musculature is long and fine. The shoulders are square, sometimes narrow. The bust and hips are balanced at shoulder width or slightly narrower. The waist is straight or slightly defined. The arms and legs are long and narrow. The hands and feet are long and slender.

When overweight, the weight usually accumulates around the hips and thighs. The upper body does not change.

The Dramatic woman doesn't look petite. She doesn't have an hourglass figure. She doesn't have a broad bone structure. She doesn't have short or fleshy arms and legs.

Clothing Lines

The clothing lines should recreate the length and sharpness of the silhouette. Prefer simple, straight lines with few details. Avoid soft, flowing lines that look too delicate on you. The emphasis should be on the shoulder line, with clean edges.

The tops should be fitted with regular angles and straight lines. The necklines should be clean and angular, such as V-necks and narrow turtlenecks. The jumpers should be structured and can either follow the silhouette or fall straight down.

The trousers should be long, with a straight cut, neither too tight nor too wide, and with a minimum of detail.

The skirts and dresses should be straight and narrow. They can be short, knee-length or longer. The should be fitted and defined at the shoulders. They may or may not accentuate the waist. Avoid skirts that add volume at the hips.

The jackets and coats should be long and well-fitted, with clean, square shoulders.

Textiles, Colors and Patterns

The fabrics need to be thick and heavy to hold their shape. Prefer fabrics with smooth surfaces, such as velvets, heavy satins, thick jeans and smooth knits. Lightweight fabrics may be suitable if they are very close-fitting.

In general, prefer monochrome outfits to maintain your long vertical line.

The patterns should be minimalist and geometric, such as stripes, checks or irregular shapes.

Accessories

The accessories should be clean and minimalist.

The shoes should be angular and fitted, with pointed or square toes. Prefer slim heels.

The bags should be geometric, with sharp angles and not too much detail.

The belts should be thin or wide, in a rigid material, with geometric buckles.

The jewellery should be clean and geometric. Prefer classic, modern or asymmetrical shapes.

Hairstyles and Make-up

The hairstyles should be geometric and clean, generally with the hair away from the face. Bangs should be straight or asymmetrical. Prefer mid-length to long hair.

The make-up should be clear and minimal, highlighting the eyes or lips.
